Frenchtown Farms "Cotillion" Red Blend 2019 - North Yuba, CA
Varietals: Grenache and Syrah
A fun balance between the Grenache and Syrah. Rich plum fruit up front turns the wine full body with a light floral minerality that lightens the palate a bit. Subtle savory black olive and hints of tart cranberry continue the balancing act this wine preforms through the whole drinking experience. The mid-palate is a bit dry, the cranberry notes come out a little more before the rich plum comes back to even the fruit out. A softer floral finish allows the fruit to linger.
Fully de-stemmed by hand with a gentle process that leaves almost all of the berries intact.Fermented in stainless and aged in neutral oak barrels on lees for 12 months.
All Frenchtown Farms wines are whole cluster, foot-stomped, spontaneously fermented with
no additions, subtractions or corrections. They use only old french oak and other neutral vessels
No sulphur is used during the life of the wines until bottling day
The only chemical they use in the vineyard is an organic, OMRI-listed, elemental form of sulphur during the middle of the growing season. They stop spraying at the first signs of veraison. They are familiar with and influenced by organic and biodynamic ideas, but choose not to pursue any form of certification.
